International architectural design competition todesign the Hublot Countdown Clock for the FIFA 2022Football World Cup.Brief required a proposal that could integrate theessence of the hosting country with those of FIFA,materializing into a landmark that would first serve asthe traditional Hublot countdown clock prior to theworld cup, to later become a historic landmark tocommemorate the event and become a prime social,touristic and photo-op hot-spot for the city, once theevent concluded.Our proposal was inspired by Qatar’s dessertlandscape, the landmark’s purpose as a clock andFIFA’s iconic trophy, resulting in an abstractinterpretation of a sand clock.Our proposal was one of three shortlisted for the finalround of the competition, amongst over 20international firms, and became the final conceptualprinciple requested to be followed for all participantsin the final design round
